I feel I must remind you that Bury has another famous daughter. Richmal Crompton the author of the “Just William” books is a native of Bury.

Thanks for the memory, Walter. I used to read the “Just William” books as a child, but I couldn’t stand Violet-Elizabeth Bott with her effective threat: “I’ll thcream and thcream and thcream ’till I’m thick”.
