  1. I think you are perhaps mistaken by saying the mural in Briton’s Protection is the only place in Manchester that commemorates the Peterloo massacre. I think you will find that there is a blue plaque on the wall of the hotel that used to be the Free Trade Hall on Peter Street.

  2. Dear Walter, Well, I should not trust the internet without double checking! Yes, there is a plaque sited on the wall of the Radisson Hotel (the Free Trade Hall as was), and is the only memorial in the vicinity of St Peter’s Square. If you want to take a look it’s on the corner of Peter Street and Southmill Street.

    The new plaque is red as this is the colour now used to “..celebrate or commemorate events of importance to the social history of the City..”.
    Blue is for individuals or the building they lived in, and black for buildings of special interest. And I didn’t know that.
